Privacy Policy

Clip Hero (cliphero.uk) makes short videos ("Shorts") for you and, if you ask it to, posts them to the YouTube channel you connect. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why, how long we keep it, who we share it with, and how you can control or delete it.
1. Who we are
Clip Hero is run by an individual operator based in the United Kingdom, who is the data controller for the personal data described here. Contact: hello@cliphero.uk.

We do not sell your data, use it for advertising, or build advertising profiles.
3. YouTube API Services
Clip Hero uses YouTube API Services. By connecting your YouTube channel you agree to be bound by the YouTube Terms of Service. Google's handling of your data is described in the Google Privacy Policy.
What we access
- youtube.upload (upload videos): used only to upload Shorts that Clip Hero made for you and that you approved or scheduled.
- youtube.readonly (view your YouTube account): used only to read your channel's ID, name, handle and profile picture, and the view, like and comment counts of the videos Clip Hero uploaded for you.
We do not read your private videos, playlists, comments, messages, subscribers' personal information or any other YouTube data.
What we store and for how long
- Your channel ID, name, handle and profile picture URL: refreshed from YouTube regularly (never kept more than 30 days without a refresh) and deleted when you disconnect.
- The IDs of the videos we uploaded, and their view, like and comment counts: refreshed regularly, and never kept more than 30 days without being refreshed or deleted. Deleted when you disconnect.
- A Google refresh token, encrypted with AES-256-GCM; the encryption key is held only by our servers. It is never shown to anyone, including you. It is deleted when you disconnect, or revoked immediately if Google tells us it is no longer valid.
Revoking access and deleting your YouTube data
- In Clip Hero, go to Channel and press Disconnect and delete my YouTube data. This revokes our access token with Google and immediately deletes all the YouTube data above.
- You can also remove Clip Hero's access at any time on Google's security settings page: https://security.google.com/settings/security/permissions. When we detect the revocation we delete the stored token and stop posting.
- Videos already posted stay on your YouTube channel. You can delete them in YouTube Studio.
Limited Use disclosure
Clip Hero's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Data received from Google APIs is used only to provide the posting and statistics features described above. It is not used for advertising, is not sold, is not used to train AI models, and is not read by people except with your permission, for security reasons, or where the law requires it.
4. Other ways to connect YouTube
Some accounts connect YouTube through our posting partner Zernio (zernio.com), or with your own Zernio account and API key. In that case Zernio holds your YouTube authorisation under its own terms and privacy policy. We store only your Zernio account ID, channel details and, if you use your own key, that key encrypted with AES-256-GCM. Disconnecting deletes all of this from Clip Hero. We never delete or change anything inside your own Zernio account.
5. Who we share data with
We use these service providers (processors) to run Clip Hero. They may only use your data to provide their service to us:
- Supabase: accounts, authentication and database.
- Cloudflare: website hosting, security, and private storage of your videos.
- Google / YouTube: when we upload to and read statistics from your channel.
- Zernio: posting, for accounts that connect through Zernio.
- Anthropic: AI that plans and edits videos. It receives the text of your Create requests and transcripts of the public source videos being clipped. It does not receive your YouTube API data.
Some providers process data outside the UK. Where they do, transfers are protected by the UK International Data Transfer Agreement, the EU Standard Contractual Clauses with the UK Addendum, or an adequacy decision. We may also disclose data where required by law.
6. Security
Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS). Connection credentials are also encrypted at rest. Database rules ensure each customer can only read their own records, and access to production systems is restricted to the operator.
7. Retention
We keep your account data while your account is open. Videos we made for you are kept until you delete your account. YouTube API data follows section 3. When you ask us to delete your account we delete your personal data within 30 days, except records we must keep by law.
8. Legal bases (UK GDPR)
We process your data to perform our contract with you (providing the service). We rely on your consent when you connect YouTube, which you can withdraw at any time by disconnecting. We rely on legitimate interests for security, fraud prevention and service improvement.
9. Your rights
You can ask to access, correct, delete, restrict or port your data, and you can object to processing. Email hello@cliphero.uk and we will reply within one month. If you are unhappy with how we handle your data you can complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
10. Children
Clip Hero is not for children under 13. YouTube's own age rules also apply to connected channels.
11. Changes
If we make significant changes we will update this page and tell you by email or in the app.
